SIDE REPEATERS

Although I really didn't want to mess around changing any of the original Lambo exterior I wasn't overly keen on the original repeaters. I especially didn't like the chrome on them (I REALLY don't like chrome) and I wasn't keen on having orange blobs stuck on the side of my yellow car. I wondered if I could find another set of repeaters which would kill both these problems with one swoop, and if they were cheaper as well, even better.
I had access to a catalogue of aftermarket side repeaters (ABC Design) through my work, and after looking fairly hard I managed to find just one set which looked like they would do the job- Fiat Barchetta/Coupe jobbies. Most of the types listed were either quite large (the Lambo ones are actually very small for a production car) or an odd shape. The Fiat ones were small (27mm diameter), round, domed (like the originals) and most importantly didn't have the chrome ring on them. On top of that, they were available in clear, smoked, blue or red variants. I went for clear because when they are installed the yellow of the body can shine straight through them and will make them look about as minimal as you can get.
Fitting is very straightfoward. It's obvious that the Fiat fitting supplied with them is different to the Torero (basically a drilled hole on the Torero) but you get a rubber sleeve with them that works just fine. Once I'd drilled a 16mm hole in the body, I just pushed through the clear part through the body then pushed the rubber sleeve onto the back of it. This is enough to hold it fine, with no glue or other fixings needed. This means that bulb replacement is kept simple. I don't need to explain how to wire them up. You do get orange painted bulbs supplied with them but if I get the chance I will buy a pair of the Phillips 'Silver Vision' bulbs which are quite snazzy. They have a silver coating on them so you don't see them, but when illuminated they are orange. They work well, and once fitted you will hardly notice the repeaters on my car.
To cheer me up even more the ABC repeater kit was just £16, delivered. Admittedly this was a trade price but they are only about £20 retail anyway.
