118-Door gas strut mounting plate-Since Naz has redesigned the doors he's incorporated mounting plates to both strengthen the doors and afford easy gas ram mounting. I must say they are well made and exactly like the original. Viewed: 801 times.

| 119-Internal Door Gas mount location-Here is an unusual shot I've tried to get for the mounting position of the gas strut in the N/S Door. The ball joint is screwed in for reference in this picture. Viewed: 757 times.

| 101-Door mount brackets-Door mount hinges. When I offered these up to the plates on the chassis they didn't line up. I rang Naz and he was unaware of the problem, but confirmed my findings. All credit to him, he's had more made to match and is gonna swap them. Viewed: 770 times.

| 120-N/S door hinge access from wheel arch-To allow access to the door mountng I felt it best to cut down the arch and position the door before marking the holes to be drilled. This I think proved worthwhile. I can simply glass up this access hole later. There will be alot of door on/offing before then! Viewed: 729 times.
|
| 121-N/S open door hinge access-Easy access here to the hinge, the gap at the chassis side is about an inch!!! this needs to be spaced for hinge alignment. Also none of the holes line up that end which begs the question.. Why drill them in the first place Naz? Viewed: 848 times.

138-Door hinge from arch-Here you can see exactly how the hinge fits. I cut the arch hole bigger for access and will glass later. Viewed: 853 times.

| 139-Door hinge from arch-Another angle...note the hinge is fitted to the door and spacers will be added to the chassis plate side here.....about 1 inch gap. Viewed: 815 times.

| 123-N/S open door from drivers side-Here you can see the opening positon from the O/S perspective. I've yet to mount the gas rams, so its propped up in this pic. Viewed: 767 times.

125-Door wing clearance-There is bugger all clearance of wing/door. In fact you will find you need to remove alot of the door material at the tip to get it to open at all. I've left around 3mm thickess. Viewed: 720 times.
|
| 126-N/S door lower gap and sill intake-The gap at the lower part of the door is enough to get your little finger in... I'm sure this is right though, judging by pics I've seen and the door contour at the rear matching the wing. Viewed: 710 times.

| 128-N/S chassis Gas ram ball joint mounting rear-Ball joint from wheel arch- there is bugger all to weld to so the box section steel fills the gap and gives me a point to weld to! Two for one- bargin! Viewed: 704 times.
|
| 127-N/S chassis Gas ram ball joint mounting- welded in box steel and drilled a 12mm steel rod, tapped 8mm and fitted the ball. This comes out of the OEM position. Slightly different to Naz and Nathan's mounting.- I wanted more like the original but both methods work just as well. This takes more work. Viewed: 752 times.

155- Gas Ram mounting plate- Here you can see the N/S wing and plate mounted to hold the gas ram in position on the door side. Very like the original. Viewed: 787 times.

| 156-N/S Gas Ram Location- Here is the gas ram position taken from inside the door to show the mounting point. Viewed: 790 times.
|
| 129-Door Lock-N/S door lock mounted- Interestingly I've seen various photos of originals and the striker pin here is offset to the outside of the door- I've seen this and many where its offset to the inside too. Both seem correct.-Weird. ***I've since switched this to the opposite door. the latch came too far out on the wing in my opinion.*** (See pic 157) Viewed: 729 times.
|
| 157-O/S Door striker- Here the pin is on the inside, this means that the striker sits further in on the wing and does not get in the way of the 'false' wing panel effect. Viewed: 826 times.
|
| 167- Female door catch position- I finally decided to move the catches to the outer position (yet again) after trying the door with them reversed. I felt the lock did not come straight down making for an awkward close. This way it comes down straight. Perfect.
