FRONT FOG LIGHTS

The most important thing to note with these is that they MOUNT FROM BEHIND the bumper, not the front as many people assume. Thankfully Naz informed me of this before I stated to hack the bumper about. For information, I used the fog lights as supplied by Parallel, which are made by Hella. I have a feeling they are the same as Lambo use themselves.

What you want to try and achieve is the glass of the light to be recessed about 15mm from the front of the bumper. You will find that you do not want a 15mm recess all round the light as the bumper is curved and so if you did the fog lights would be pointing inwards. So, I just made sure that the minimum recess point is 15mm, which means that at other points it's a good 25mm. I found that this looks pretty good, with there being just enough of a recess without the light looking like it's buried deep inside the bumper.

Once you think the lights are sitting about right, wait until it's dark, prop up the bumper with something so it's about 5 inches off the floor, connect up a 12v battery and see what the light spread is like. I found that one of mine was pointing slightly too far up, while the other was exactly right! This was based on a projection of about 60 feet. Theres no reason I settled on this distance other than what I thought 'looked right'. Any higher and I think it may blind other drivers, any lower and I don't think it would be very effective. However, I did find this statement while searching the web:

"Alignment: To the front and so aimed that the upper edge of the beam is, as near as practicable, 3 per cent below the horizontal when the vehicle is at its kerbside weight and has a weight of 75 kg on the driver's seat"

You have to be fairly sure of the beam projection as there will not be any adjustment when the lights are fitted. Not only are they bonded in but the recess hole will not allow any movement anyway. That said, as they are fog lights the spread isn't critical as the beam is fairly scattered anyway, so as long as thery are not too high or pointing in opposite directions like Gecko eyes you should be fine.
